Ok guys I apologize for the hiatus I have taken from the book blog. It has been a crazy school year for me so far and is about to get even crazier. I just finished wrestling practices and now it is time to start basketball practices.
I have decided that I can't let silly sports get in the way of silly reading. We all know that reading cool books about mythical creatures is a lot better than watching a super bowl. ;-)
I have read quite a few new books since last year and many of them I am sure that you guys will be very interested in.
Tell all your friends that the book blog is up and going and lets have some fun reading.

What a great way to share books with your students. Do you require them to visit the blog from time to time. I would. You've done a great job. I guess the trick now would be to update more often.
Hah! I've also used and promoted Shelfari with my students because my students (8th graders) like to hear my reading tales. I am terrible at reading middle school "lit" because It's not my thing. Oh well, I'll get my act together someday.
Rodney,
I like the book blog idea. Students must get excited to read each of the books you post, because of your enthusiasm and love for reading. Your descriptions no doubt captivate the minds of your students with intrigue and a desire to pick up the book for themselves.
What do you require of your students with this blog? Do you allow your students to post reviews of their own on your blog or do you encourage them to create their own? Anything we can do to encourage students to read more is a success. I think you have a great idea and blog going for you and it has inspired me to try some thing on my own blog.
Thanks,
Garrett Andersen
duI enjoyed reading your blog. I rarely get the opportunity to read something that I choose instead of being told I need to read it for an assignment. Do you have any parent involvement or comments about your blog?
Great way to share books!
To answer some of your questions about this blog, I don't require them to do anything with it. I do encourage them to come on here and find good books. I put books on here that I have really enjoyed and I hope they enjoy them. I don't let them post their names on here but encourage them to have a moniker of fake name. They think that is kind of fun. I haven't had any parent involvement on my blog but I have had parents email me and are grateful that their kid is reading instead of playing video games. The biggest thing that makes this work for me, is that I really enjoy reading and the kids can tell.
